Dr. Kelly French
Dr. French is a graduate of UBC Faculty of Medicine (1998) and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Dalhousie University (2003). She completed a one-year Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship at UBC (2005).
Dr. French is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada where she is active in the examination process for graduating psychiatry residents. She is an active member of the Canadian Association of Geriatric Psychiatry.
Dr. French is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. She spent 13 years working in the Fraser Health Authority with various Geriatric Psychiatry teams. She currently practices community based Geriatric Psychiatry in an office setting in Surrey, BC.
Dr. French has a wide variety of interests within the realm of Geriatric Psychiatry. She sees patients with depression, anxiety, psychosis and neurocognitive disorders such as dementia. She practices both supportive psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. She also participated in the Ombudsperson review on financial capacity in the elderly and is well versed in assessing for various types of capabilities in the older population.
