ARE THE SERVICES COVERED BY MY PROVINCIAL HEATH PLAN OR OTHER INSURANCE?
The services at the SRC are not covered by provincial health plans. At present, extended health plans will also not cover these costs. Some employers, disability insurers and third party payers may cover these costs. You should check whether you are eligible for reimbursement before attending the SRC.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW CAN I PAY?
For most assessments, the cost will be between $550-$850 depending on the complexity and the specialty. Some more complex assessments and independent examinations for insurance or medicolegal purposes will cost more. You can pay by cash, Visa, MasterCard, Amex or Interac.
WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?
Independent Medical Assessments for personal use. Specialists will provide a comprehensive assessment, much like an annual physical, but related to their specific area of expertise. After examination you will be provided with a written report within a week for your personal use. If further investigations, tests, or treatments are recommended, the SRC can arrange them for you.
WHICH SPECIALISTS WORK AT SRC?
Specialists at the SRC include those who are nationally and internationally recognized as leaders in their profession. Brief biographies of our consultants will soon be listed on our site.
WHAT IF I NEED SPECIAL TESTS OR A PROCEDURE, FOR EXAMPLE, SURGERY?
In many instances, the SRC will be able to expedite investigations and treatment also. The specialist will discuss the possibilities in specific terms relating to your particular circumstances. Options may include referral to private facilities either locally or out of province.
HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
Call the SRC at 604-737-7464 and our medical assistant would be happy to book an appointment for you. You may also contact us by vising our Book an Appointment page.
Appointments made by phone will usually be booked within 2-3 weeks.
WHAT DO I BRING?
Bring any x-rays, MRI's and other information that you believe may be of help to the specialist. If you have had previous consultations or procedures it would be very helpful if copies of these could be provided.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM A FAMILY PHYSICIAN?
No. You are receiving an independent assessment for a non-insured purpose. This may be used for an insurance examination, fitness for certain activities, disability assessment or other personal use. If you wish to see one of our specialists under your provincial health plan, you may do so on referral by a physician at their private offices.
