Dr. Masri received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from UBC in 1988, and completed an internship in Edmonton, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at UBC. He completed fellowship training in hip and knee replacement in New York, at the Hospital for Special Surgery in 1995, and then commended practice in Vancouver.

Dr. Masri is Professor and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia. Prior to being appointed as Department Head, he served as the Head of the Division of Lower Limb Reconstruction and Oncology at UBC. He is also the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at VGH and UBC Hospitals, and the Medical Director of the Centre for Surgical Innovation at UBC Hospital. His area of practice is restricted to Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction and Replacement, and to Musculoskeletal Oncology through affiliation with the BC Cancer Agency. He is a member of the Executive and Board of the Canadian Orthopaedics Association, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a fellow of the American Orthopaedic Association, a member of the Knee Society and the Hip Society. He has authored numerous research and review articles and book chapters, totaling over 125, and has lectured extensively throughout North America and Overseas.
