Post bariatric body contouring continues to be a growth area in Plastic Surgery locally and throughout the Western World. This unique sub-specialty has grown during the past decade following advances in obesity medicine and bariatric surgery.

 

Who is an appropriate candidate?

· Men or women who have lost over 50 pounds by any means
· BMI of less than 35
· Weight stable for more than 3-6 months
· Medical conditions are under control

 

What are the common procedures?

Tummy tuck, Body lift, Breast lift, Back lift, Brachioplasty, Thigh lift and Face lift.

 

What are the contraindications?

· Age less than 18 years
· Pregnancy or anticipated pregnancy
· Pacemaker, implanted cardiac defibrillator, or other electromagnetic implant
· BMI greater than 35
· Hepatitis or Liver Disease
· Bleeding Disorder

 

Please note that patients with a BMI of greater than 30 and multiple conditions( sleep apnea, diabetes etc) may not be suitable.
